Winnertzia brevipalpata Jaschhof, 2013
Morphological identification
Jaschhof & Jaschhof (2013).
DNA barcode
CO1 sequences (652‒656bp) obtained of the three specimens listed below were allocated to two different BINs, BOLD:AER2287 (ZSM-DIP-42310-A02) and BOLD:ADW4104 (ZSM-DIP-42309-A06, ZSM-DIP-42310-B03). A search in BOLDʼs BIN Database retrieved 19 matches for BOLD:ADW4104, all as Cecidomyiidae sp. from Germany (accessed 25 Aug. 2023). Although the genetic clustering was found to be unsupported by morphological evidence, studies in the future should attempt to DNA barcode more specimens of W. brevipalpata to gain clarity about the extent and nature of the genetic variation found here.
