Distribution. This species was described from Germany and recorded from Saudi Arabia by Spencer (1973a), where it was attacking wheat. It was further recorded from the Palaearctic Region: Bulgaria, Corfu, Greece (Crete), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Iraq, Morocco, Poland, Rhodes, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the former Yugoslavia (Černý et al. 2020). Deeming (2006) reviewed the biology of this species and described the immature stages.
Hosts remark. It attacks barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) ( Poaceae) (Al-Ali 1977; Benavent-Corai et al. (2005) and possibly rye ( Secale cereale L.) ( Poaceae) (Spencer 1973a; Lonsdale et al. 2023).
