Key to the species of Pseudoaerumnosa (males)

Note. The species of Pseudoaerumnosa are mostly difficult to identify. The size, number and arrangement of the gonostylar megasetae, important for identification of species in many genera of Sciaridae, are often almost identical. Minor differences in the relative length and width of the gonocoxa and gonostylus and in the form of the tegmen, appear important. Care must be taken that the tegmen does not change its form during the preparation which occurs easily if specimens are treated with KOH or if DNA extraction methods are used. Furthermore, the size and form of the apical tooth of the gonostylus may vary depending on the position of the tooth in preparations.
