Yezoceryx purpuratus Sonan, 1936: 250 . Holotype: ♀, Formosa: Mekaran in Chikuto-gun in Shinchiku Prefecture (TARI).

Diagnosis. Blue purple; occipital carina down-curved dorsally; clypeus without median tooth, apical margin distinctly up-curved; propodeum with dense, irregular wrinkles; metasomal first tergite about 2.0× as long as its apical width; first sternite with anteriorly projecting hook; ovipositor 3.6–4.0× as long as hind tibia.

Material examined. Vinh Phuc, Tam Dao NP: 1♀ (OMNH), 3.v.1998 ; 1♀ (OMNH), 4.v.1998, 900– 1000 m a.s.l., hand net, R. Matsumoto leg.; 1♀ (IEBR), Hoa Binh, Mai Chau, Tan Son, 20–25, v.2009, 850– 900 m a.s.l., Malaise trap, L. D. Khuat leg.

Distribution. Previously known from Taiwan (Sonan, 1936), these are the first records of this species from Vietnam.

Remarks. The Vietnamese specimens have partly yellow inner orbits (at the level of the upper face).
