Genus Probles Förster, 1869

Probles is a large predominantly Holarctic genus with about 50 species in the Palaearctic region (Yu et al. 2016; Khalaim et al. 2013, 2017; Balueva et al. 2014; Khalaim 2014; Khalaim & Tereshkin 2019; Kasparyan & Khalaim 2021), eleven species in Mexico (the fauna of America north of Mexico is virtually undescribed) (Khalaim & RuízCancino 2019), and several species in other regions of the world except South America and New Zealand (Yu et al. 2016). Twelve species are known from the Russian Far East (Khalaim 2007, 2014; Khalaim et al. 2017; Khalaim & Tereshkin 2019) and six species from South Korea (Khalaim et al. 2013, 2017; Balueva et al. 2014).

Ten species of Probles occur in Japan (Khalaim 2003; Kasparyan & Khalaim 2021): P. (Euporizon) arkadyi Khalaim, P. (Rugodiaparsis) kunashirica Khalaim, and eight newly recorded species listed below.

In Europe, some species of Probles have been recorded as parasitoids of the beetle families Attelabidae, Ciidae, Curculionidae, Endomycidae and Melandryidae (Horstmann 1971, 1981; Blommers & Vaal 2002), and one species probably parasitises in gall-forming sawfly of the genus Pontania Costa ( Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) (Kopelke 1994).
