nucleus

Ampullaria nucleus Philippi, 1852 . Updated status of type material — lectotype (Köhler & Glaubrecht 2006: 207, fig. 2H): ZMB 1374a; paralectotype: ZMB 1374b [listed as syntypes by Cowie & Thiengo (2003: 79)]. Additional remarks. Treated as incertae sedis among New World Ampullariidae by Cowie & Thiengo (2003: 79). The name nucleus treated as a noun in apposition.

oligista

Pomacea (Effusa) oligista Pilsbry & Olsson, 1953 . Additional type material — paratypes: USNM 605847 (3 spms.).

pachystoma

Ampullaria pachystoma Philippi, 1849 . Additional detail of type material —possible syntype: MNHNCL 15917 (1 spm., old number 61.044).

Additional remarks. The possible syntype is smaller and the shell banding pattern does not match the illustration of pachystoma given by Philippi (1852a: 44, pl. 12, fig. 5), though the labels identify it as pachystoma Philippi. However, although bigger than Philippi’s dimensions for crocostoma Philippi, the shape of the shell is a better match and the shell banding pattern is an excellent match. It is possible, therefore, that this shell is a syntype of crocostoma Philippi, perhaps the illustrated specimen.
