Type material — holotype [by monotypy: “Das beschreibene Exemplar”; Martens (1866: 286)]: SMNS [“Stuttgarter Naturalienkabinet” (Martens 1866: 286), not found in 2014]. Type locality —“Lagos Guineae superioris” (Martens 1866: 286). Distribution —“Haute Guinée ” (Bourguignat 1889: 177), “lac Tchad ” (Germain 1907d: 536).
Remarks. Form of libyca Morelet, teste Kobelt (1911: 21). Synonym of libyca Morelet, teste G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 67). Valid species, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 188), followed here.
zambesianus
