Lanistes farleri Craven, 1880: 219, pl. 22, figs. 7a–d. Type material — syntypes: NHMUK 1891.3.7.36–38 (3 spms.). Type locality —“Magila” [Tanzania]. Distribution — Tanzania, Zanzibar (Brown 1980: 55, 1994: 65).

Remarks. Valid species, teste Kobelt (1912b: 34), G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 69), Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 200), Brown (1980: 54, 1994: 64) and Berthold (1991: 246), who all placed it in Lanistes subg. Leroya . The listing of “ farlanei. Crosse Afric. or.” by Paetel (1883: 76) is here considered a lapsus calami and unavailable.

Lanistes Foai Germain, 1905a: 256 [1908: 671, text figs. 24, 25]. Type material —location unknown. Type locality —“le Haut-Congo”.

Remarks. Kobelt (1909: 79) listed it from Tanganyika [= Tanzania]. Valid species, teste G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 66). Synonym of nsendweensis Dupuis & Putzeys, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 190), followed here.

Lanistes congicus fraternus Pilsbry & Bequaert, 1927: 189, pl. 18, fig. 16. Type material — holotype ANSP 133878 [(“133878a” (Baker 1964: 168)]; paratypes: ANSP 365365 (3 spms.). Type locality —“ Congo River, 2 to 3 kilometers below Kinshasa, on the Belgian side” [Democratic Republic of the Congo]. Distribution — Democratic Republic of the Congo (Pilsbry & Bequaert 1927: 189), including Bas-Congo (Schwetz & Dartevelde 1937: 570).
