Type locality: Paternoster Islands (east of Sailus Besar, north of Sumbawa), Indonesia, depth 36 meters (selected by Randall, 1980:149). Distribution: widespread in the Indo–west Pacific from east Africa to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, Australia, New Caledonia, Marshall Islands, and Fiji.
