World distribution. Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
Chilean distribution. Only recorded from Tarapacá region (Fig. 146).
Altitudinal range. This species has been recorded inhabiting highland ecosystems (3,500 -3,800 m.a.s.l.).
Biology and notes. Copestylum smithae is here reported from Chile for the first time and associated with native flora from the Andes highlands ecosystems in the Puna province (Morrone 2014). Larvae of C. smithae has been associated with Opuntia cacti by Rotheray et al. (2009).
Conservation status. DD; AOO = 2 km 2 and one locality (or subpopulation).
