World distribution. Argentina, Peru and Chile.
Chilean distribution. From Tarapacá to Magallanes region (Fig. 39).
Altitudinal range. From coastal to highland ecosystems (50– 3,000 m.a.s.l.).
Biology and notes. Dolichogyna nigripes is associated with M. planipes in the northern Chiloé Island (Smith- Ramírez et al., 2005). This flower fly has also been recorded on Chrysanthemum sp. (Patricia Medina, CSP record; Fig. 35). Other aspects about its biology and ecology remain unknown.
Conservation status. LC; EOO = 485,601 km 2;AOO = 44 km 2, nine subpopulations and ten localities (probably these last ones be more).
