World distribution. Chile.

Chilean distribution. From Valparaíso to Los Ríos region (Fig. 200).

Altitudinal range. From coastal to inland valley ecosystems (50–120 m.a.s.l.).

Biology and notes. Nuntianus confusus is associated mainly with Sclerophylous forest, a habitat that has been extensively fragmented by urbanization, agriculture and forestry (Alaniz et al. 2016).This flower fly species has been observed visiting flowers of Adesmia sp. (Matías Cortés, CSP record); Stellaria sp. (Orlando Montes, CSP record) and Oxalis virgosa Molina (Raul Tuk, CSP record). Other aspects of its biology and ecology remain unknown.

Conservation status. VU under B2ab (iii) using AOO = 24 km 2 and six localities (or subpopulations); EOO = 38,314 km 2.
