Biology and notes. Syrphus shorae is a species widely distributed in the Neotropical region (Montoya 2016). In Chile, the distribution of this species might be underestimated as citizen science records have shown it has a wide distribution. Thus, it might not have conservation problems. This species has been observed visiting flowers of Plectranthus sp. (Victoria Kunst, CSP record); Plectranthus ciliatus E. Mey. ex Benth (César Martínez, CSP record) and L. maritima (Gabriela Germain, CSP record).
Conservation status. LC; AOO = 7,955 km 2 (potentially higher), EOO = 28 km 2, six localities (or subpopulations). This species is widely distributed in all Neotropical region.
