Type species: Eremus atrotectus Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1888 .

Diagnosis. Body small for the subfamily, wings absent. Head as wide as or slightly narrower than pronotum, ovate in frontal view. Frons smooth or almost smooth. Tegmina and hind wings usually absent or with strongly reduced wings rudiments, which less than 1.7 mm long and less than half of the length of pronotum. Male subgenital plate enlarged, subgenital plate with well developed styli. Female subgenital plate without concavity on posterior margin, basal area without button shaped lobule on the conjunct of the preceding sternite.

Species included. The genus includes 19 species in the world, of which 3 species are from China.
