Material. Type, ♂— “ Chlaenius chloodes Type Andr. H.E. Andrewes det.”, “ Andr FCD 323a”, “ Coll. F. C. Drescher, Java, Res. Cheribon, Tjideres, 100m. 18 .XII.1939”, “Type” (BMNH)
Diagnosis and comments. Species known from Java only. Very similar in both external and aedeagal structure to C. caesitius Andrewes, 1923 . The principal differences between two species lies in yellow pattern of elytra. Lateral band of elytra narrow, even at the apices of elytra (Fig. 20), i.e. C. caesitius has very wide lateral band, especially in apical part (Fig. 19). Such variability in the pattern is known for C. germanus (Figs. 1–6). Given that they are very similar in the shape of aedeagus, perhaps C. caesitius should be considered as a subspecies of C. neochloodes .
Description. Body length 8.3 mm. Dorsal surface with dense yellow pubescence. Coloration of head and pronotum metallic green with bluish overtones on the disc. Mouthparts, antennomeres and legs yellow. Antennomeres IV–XI slightly darker. Elytra metallic bluish green, with narrow yellow lateral band on two external intervals; apical part of band serrate. Ventral surface black, iridescent, except wide lateral band on all abdominal segments.
Head with distinct microsculpture throughout; punctate, with small smooth area on vertex. Pronotum convex, microreticulate, very deeply and densely punctate, less or no more than one diameter distance from each other. Lateral margins very narrow. Hind angles right. Elytra with striae deep, moderately punctured on the base, punctures gradually reduced towards apex. Intervals flat, just slightly convex at base.
Aedeagus robust (Fig. 28).
Distribution. Indonesia (Java).
