Material examined. 1♀, México, Oaxaca, Municipio Comaltepec, La Esperanza, 1600 m, N 17.62601°, W 96.36950°, 2–12.VIII.2008, MT, Bosque Lluvioso de Montaña, leg. A. López-Garcia (UNAM) ; 1♀, México, Tamaulipas, 6 km NE Miquihuana, N 23.601°, W 99.707°, 2600–2700 m, 24.IX.2016, leg. A. E. Humala (ZISP) .

Distribution. Costa Rica; Mexico (Tamaulipas, Oaxaca).

The species is new to Mexico.

Comments. This species differs in larger fore wing areolet, a smaller number (20–21) of antennal flagellomeres, smaller ocelli, darker dorsal surface of the scape, and more strongly sculptured propodeum and second tergite.

Both Mexican specimens of this species belonging to O. shieldsi species-group fit well to the original description and collected at mid and high-altitude sites.
