Proarna bergi (Distant, 1892)

The species has been reported from Colombia and Argentina (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels and van der Laan 1985; Sanborn et al. 1995a; De Santis et al. 2007). However, the species was mistakenly listed as occurring in Colombia by Metcalf (1963a). The paper by Distant (1892) lists only the Argentine Republic as the source of specimens for the new species. The listing of Colombia appears to be the result of misreading the table and assigning Colombia as a location for P. bergi when in actuality it refers to Ariasa colombiae . All other records for the species are currently from Argentina. As a result, the species is removed from the Colombian cicada fauna.
