This species has a wide geographic distribution being reported from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Argentina and South America (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels and van der Laan 1985; Sanborn et al. 1995a; Sanborn 2006b, 2007a,b, 2009). It has been reported from the Dept. Magdalena (Davis 1935) and the Valle de Medellín and Magdalena (Daniel 1946) in Colombia.
