Diagnosis: Size about 55µm. Oval shaped. Peduncle measuring about two-thirds the size of the body, ringed, sometimes with an unoccupied lateral branch. Elevated peristomial collar, which wraps around the back of the body when contracted. Transversely inclined macronucleus, usually in the middle of the posterior part of the body. Found in fresh water, in large numbers on Trichoptera larvae.
