Remarks. This species was previously represented by two subspecies, i.e., Cnephasia sedana alaicana Caradja, 1916 and C. s. pirizanica Razowski, 1965, but they are currently considered synonyms of the nominate species. The latter was described by Razowski from Iran (Pir-i-Zan = Pirezan in Fars Province) and Tehran (Razowski 1965). Cnephasia amseli Razowski, 1957 and C. obscurana Osthelder, 1938 were also described from Iran (Fars: Pirezan and Hesarchal valley, northern Iran, Mazandaran Province, respectively) (Osthelder 1938, Razowski 1957); both of these names were later synonymized with C. sedana .
