Type species. Psammogammarus caecus S.L. Karaman, 1955 by monotypy.

Essential diagnosis. Head, lateral cephalic lobe entire. Antenna 2, flagellum not fused. Mandible, palp 3- articulated. Gnathopod 1, carpus shorter than or subequal to propodus, palm oblique. Pereopods 3–4, bases linear. Pereopods 5–7, bases similarly dilated, merus of pereopod 7 narrow. Uropod 3, outer ramus slender, with 2 articles, second article long.
