Agyneta grandcanyon new species

Type material: Male holotype and female allotype from Arizona, Grand Canyon, Colorado River-side, mile 169, Oct. 27, 1982, V. Roth (AMNH). EXAMINED.
Etymology: The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality Grand Canyon National Park, USA.
Diagnosis: Males and females are diagnosed by their abdominal patterns (Figs 330, 331). Males are distinguished by their unique small, pointed dorsal cymbial tubercle (Fig. 327) and their elongated retrolateral tibial apophysis (Fig. 326). Female are differentiated from all other Agyneta by their uniquely long and narrow proximal part of scape (Fig. 332).
Description: Male: Total length 1.64; carapace length 0.78, width 0.64.

CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace light yellow-orange, shiny, finely reticulate; suffused with gray along radiating lines. Sternum suffused lightly with gray, darker along margin, reaching all the way between coxae four to the pedicel. Cypeus low (2x AME). Chelicerae light yellow; not excavated, seta-tipped tubercles absent; promargin three denticles, retromargin three tiny denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~14 striae, well spaced throughout. ABDOMEN: Off-white with dark median band and transverse bands on posterior half or dark median band broken, with a large arrow-shaped mark (Fig. 330) or else same as female, off-white with basal, lateral dark marks (Fig. 331).
LEGS: Light yellow; leg I total length: 3.61; leg III total length: 2.37; Tm I: 0.23, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Palpal retrolateral tibial apophysis long, smooth and narrow; dorsal tibial apophysis with curved, pointed tip; two retrolateral trichobothria and one dorsal (Fig. 326). Cymbium triangular; glabrous depression present (Fig 326); dorsal cymbial tubercle small, smooth and pointed; ventral tubercle large and smooth; prolateral notch shallow (Fig. 327). Paracymbium apical pocket short, anterior pocket short, posterior pocket absent (Fig. 326). Embolus tip wide, rounded with long prong; ventrally rugose; basally with one large spike; Fickert’s gland absent; ventral lamella absent; thumb reaching the embolus proper (Fig. 328). Embolus proper set apically on a vertical ridge, of equal part (Fig. 326). Anterior terminal apophysis large with numerous, long protrusions and extra bifid apophysis basally; posterior terminal apophysis long, basally with large tooth-like extension with numerous small spines; lamella characteristica elongated with pointed tip (Fig. 329).
Female: Total length 1.88; carapace length 0.68, width 0.58.
CEPHALOTHORAX: Coloration as in male. Chelicerae light yellow; promargin four denticles, retromargin two tiny denticles. Clypeus height 2. Cheliceral stridulatory organ visible ~10 striae, well spaced. ABDOMEN: Off-white with median dark band and dark transverse band or off-white with small, dark latero-basal marks (Fig. 331). LEGS: Same as male; palpal tarsal claw absent; leg I total length: 3.90; leg III total length: 2.71; Tm I: 0.24; Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Epigynum with long and narrow proximal part of scape, slightly narrowing apically; epigynal slits large; pit hook depression absent (Fig. 332); lateral lobes very long; stretcher long; pit deep (Fig. 335). Median part of scape long, narrow and parallel; genital pores located at the base of the lateral lobes (Fig. 334). Internal genitalia with rounded ventral receptacula, dorsal receptacula elongated (Figs 333, 334).
