Opinion: This species does occur in the region, but its true identity is unknown.

Justification:

Literature analysis: Because this species was described without any illustrations and without any mention of thornscales typical of Placogorgia, and has never been redescribed, it remains unidentifiable. Kükenthal (1924) included it when dealing with species he grouped as Placogorgia but commented that it did not belong in that genus. Rao & Devi (2003) just listed it.
