Nemacheilus cf. paucimaculatus Bohlen & Šlechtová 2011

Nemacheilus cf. paucimaculatus: Authors' data (Sg. Bernam)

Remarks. According to Bohlen & Šlechtová (2011), Nemacheilus paucimaculatus can be distinguished from all congeners (except N. arenicolus) by its mid-lateral markings of 8–10 dark brown blotches and 8–10 dark brown dorsal saddles, each larger than eye. Although a small blotch is present in the dorsal-fin’s first ray, our specimens exhibit 9–14 mid-lateral blotches that are elongated, inconsistently shaped and in some specimens are marginally divided into two. Also, there are up to 10–14 dark brown saddles, some of them marginally connected (Fig. 2). It is apparent that the numbers of blotches are problematic for decisive identification. Since our specimens could not be confidently matched with descriptions provided by Bohlen & Šlechtová (2011), we tentatively designate our specimens as N. cf. paucimaculatus .
