Parachela hypophthalmus (Bleeker 1860)
Chela hypophthalmus: Herre & Myers, 1937: 53 (Telok Anson).
Oxygaster hypophthalmus: Menon 1954: 6 (Kota Tampan).
Remarks. The true identity of Parachela hypophthalmus is still unsettled. Kottelat (1995) highlighted that Bleeker (1860) had mistakenly used specimens previously identified as Chela oxygastroides for the original description of C. hypophthalmus . Later, Bleeker (1863) indicated that the specimens may be from Palembang, Sumatra, and that there were some doubts as specimens of different localities were mixed in the same jar. Subsequently, Weber & de Beaufort (1915) and Bănărescu (1969) added to the confusion with conflicting descriptions. We have chosen to list this species herein until futher investigation.
