Note. Straneo (1951) described Pachyabaris laevis from Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (Colombia), later attributing this species to the genus Sierrobius (Straneo 1985) . The same author successively described Ogmopleura laevis Straneo, 1993 from the Andes of Peru. Since the synonymy of these three genera with Blennidus was stated (Moret 1995), Blennidus laevis (Straneo 1993) became a secondary homonym of Blennidus laevis (Straneo 1951) and the new name Blennidus pseudolaevis was proposed (Allegro & Giachino 2011b). This species belongs to the ‘ B. orbicollis species group’ together with three other species easily distinguished by the habitus and the distinctive morphology of aedeagus ( B. crassus, B. orbicollis and B. pinguis) (Allegro & Giachino 2011b).
Distribution. Blennidus pseudolaevis is recorded from Dept. Cajamarca (Northern Peru) (Allegro & Giachino 2011b).
