Lectotype [designated by Schwarz, 1931]: ZMB 319 (old number = An 14655), female, skin and skull; acquired in Bahia de S. Agostino [ Baie de Saint-Augustin] Madagascar, by Peters between 1842 and 1848.

Paralectotype: ZMB 71431 (= An 14763), female, body in alcohol; acquired in Bahia de S. Agostino [ Baie de Saint-Augustin] Madagascar, by Peters between 1842 and 1848 .

Comment: Peters (1852. p. 18) based his description on three specimens, which were at that time in the Berlin collection. However, the third paralectotype from Bombatoka [Bombetoka], Madagascar, collected by Barnard, undated, could not be found in the collection.
