Syntype: ZMB 11872, male, skull, skin; location and collector unknown; 1899 received from Zoologischer Garten Berlin .

Comment: According to Matschie, an additional specimen should be in the collections of Senckenbergmuseum Frankfurt; however, such a specimen could not be found [Dr. Dieter Kock, formerly Curator in the Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt, personal comm.].
