Amblyomma humerale

Amblyomma humerale was collected from yellowfooted tortoise, Geochelone denticulate from Mayaro (Aitken et al. 1968a; Robbins et al. 2003). Everard and Tikasingh (1973) found A. humerale on rodents ( Oryzomys capito and Proechimys guyannensis) from Turure Forest, Trinidad. Nava et al. (2007b) and Voltzit (2007) also mention the presence of A. humerale in Trinidad. Other observed hosts include birds (Morshed et al. 2005), lizards, opossums, anteaters (Labruna et al. 2002), and dogs (Barros- Battesti et al. 2006).

Distribution: Brazil, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and French Guiana (Guglielmone et al. 2003; Voltzit 2007).
