Leptothecata: Plumulariidae

The sequenced plumulariid species from Bali include: Dentitheca elongata (Billard, 1913), Cladacanthella scabra (Lamarck, 1816), Plumularia procumbens Spencer, 1891 and Sibogella flabellata Di Camillo & Galea, 2020, for which genetic data are provided for the first time, and P. badia Kirchenpauer, 1876, P. strictocarpa Pictet, 1893, Sciurella cylindrica (Kirchenpauer, 1876) and S. erecta Billard, 1911a (Fig. 31A), with available sequences so far.

A multi-locus phylogenetic hypothesis based on 16S, 18S and 28S rRNA was also produced to assess the phylogenetic position of C. scabra, which results to be closely-related to P. badia, P. spiralis Billard, 1911b and D. bidentata (Jäderholm, 1905) (Fig. 31B).
