Holotype male, from Loma del Gato, Sierra del Cobre, Oriente province [at present Santiago de Cuba province], Cuba. Elevation, 2600 – 3325 feet. [ANSP- 5590].

Distribution. High areas in eastern provinces of Cuba.

Notes. Rehn and Rehn (1942) note that this species has affinities to M. meddix .
