Differential diagnosis

Cochlostoma (T.) mnelense has a female genital morphology with a long, almost tubular and slim seminal receptacle, whereas it is short, with a simplified loop path, in the new taxon. Cochlostoma (T.) muranyii sp. nov. has much thinner and regular ribs. Although often not clearly visible, in C. (T.) kontschani sp. nov. the columellar lobe is deeply indented.

Etymology

The species is dedicated to Jenő Kontschán, a leading figure in Hungarian agro-zoological research, once an enthusiastic mite taxonomist, who used to have time to participate in some of the field trips where this species was collected.
