Polydesmus bilineatus Lucas, 1840
Polydesmus bilineatus Lucas, 1840: 523 (original description); Gervais 1847: 107 (description); Hoffman 1999: 9 (taxonomic comment).
Polydesmus (Stenonia) bilineatus: Saussure 1860: 532, Pl. VII fig. 50, 50a–b (description based on holotype).
Platyrhacus bilineatus: Pocock 1909: 140 (combination; description).
Types: ♂ holotype from Mexico, without further locality. Material originally deposited at the MNHN, we could not confirm its current state; it is not listed in their on-line database.
Distribution: unknown, supposedly from somewhere in Mexico.
Comments: Attems (1899) description was based on specimens from northwestern Brazil, near the borders with Peru and Colombia, that probably correspond to a different species (Pocock 1909; Hoffman 1960). Pocock (1909) suggested affinities with Nyssodesmus limonensis (Attems, 1899) . Hoffman (1999) suggested it could be a species of Barydesmus . Currently there are no verified records of Platyrhacidae in Mexico (Hoffman 1999; Bueno- Villegas et al. 2004).
