Polydesmus (Stenonia) mexicanus: Saussure 1860: 534, Pl. VII fig. 51, 51a (combination; description based on holotype).

Platyrhacus mexicanus: Pocock 1909: 140 (combination; description).

Types: ♂ holotype from Mexico, without further locality. Material originally deposited at the MNHN, we could not confirm its current state; it is not listed in their on-line database.

Distribution: unknown, supposedly from somewhere in Mexico.

Comments: Attems's (1899) description was based on the type specimens of Barydesmus broelemanni (Attems, 1914) . According to Loomis (1968) a possible synonym of Nyssodesmus montivagus . Hoffman (1999) suggested it could be a species of Barydesmus . Currently there are no verified records of Platyrhacidae in Mexico (Hoffman 1999; Bueno-Villegas et al. 2004).
