Nyssodesmus fraternus (Carl, 1902)

Platyrrhacus fraternus Carl, 1902: 655, pl. 11 fig. 71 (original description); Hoffman 1960: 20 (taxonomic comment; as Platyrhacus fraternus).

Nyssodesmus fraternus: Chamberlin 1922: 40 (combination; new localities); Jeekel 1963: 89 (taxonomic comments).

Types: 4 ♂ and 3 ♀ syntypes from Costa Rica: San José and Puerto Limón; P. Biolley leg. Deposited at the MHNG, cat. no. MHNG-ATRO-14228 (3 males and a tube containing gonopods) and MHNG-ARTO-14229 (3 females); one male syntype deposited at NMB, cat. no. NMB-DIPL-00442a (J. Hollier, pers. comm.).

Distribution: Costa Rica.

Comments: Attems (1938) considered this species a synonym of P. tenebrosus, a decision rejected by Hoffman (1960).
