Distribution. – Sumatra and Peninsular Malaysia to Taiwan, NE Australia and Solomon Is.

Note. – The oldest available specific epithet reflects European unfamiliarity with cauliflory, Linnaeus’ s pupil, Pehr Osbeck, considering the inflorescences to be parasites on the trunk of a tree (Mabberley, 1992: 2).
