Itoplectis albipes Seyrig, 1932

(Fig. 21 c)

Itoplectis albipes evoluta Benoit, 1957: 309 syn. nov.

Diagnosis. The acute indentation in front of the toruli is a characteristic of Itoplectis . The combination of its relatively small size and the median white band on black hind tibia distinguishes I. albipes from all Pimplinae reported in the Indian Ocean subregion.

Description. Seyrig (1932).

Biological notes. Morphological studies indicate that I. albipes uses echolocation when foraging for hosts (Broad & Quicke 2000).

Comments. Benoit (1957) described the subspecies evoluta after color variations with the Malagasy species. These variations do not consistently fit with the examined material. The subspecies evoluta is therefore considered as synonym of the nominal species.

Distribution records. Reunion. Madagascar.
