NOTES

Lecomte (1925: 188) cited the original material under two groups: a form with long pedicellate female flowers, represented by collections of Chevalier from Cambodia and Poilane from Cochinchina, and a form with short pedicels, with Chevalier and Poilane gatherings from Annam. He separately cited the specimen Chevalier 30036 from Phanrang, which he used to study the anatomy of the species and six wood anatomical slides are found in P slide collection. We have located Chevalier and Poilane collections (short pedicels) from Annam at BISH, HBG, K, P, NY, SING, US and VNM, but Chevalier ’s and Poilane collections (long pedicel) from Cambodia and Cochinchina have not been identified. In his later publication, Lecomte (1928a: 108) restricted the species to the specimens with short pedicels (Poilane 57, 59, 75, 133, 134, 4707, 5554, 5847, 8559, 8779, 9323 and 10114 and Chevalier 30036 and 35887 from Annam). Among the collections that we could locate, Poilane 134 has the largest number of well preserved duplicates (K, NY, P, SING, US and VNM). Here, we designate the specimen P00329455 with Lecomte’s handwritten determination as the lectotype.
