Ophiopsammium semperi Lyman, 1874

Ophiopsammium semperi Lyman, 1874: 232, pl. 4, figs 11–17.

Habitat: Coral reef, on a Gorgonian, soft clay with sand, hard clay, 15–51 m (Mortensen 1940).

Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman: Bushehr (2), Qeshm Island (10), Khoor Mousa (30), Bandar-Imam (31) (ibid.).

Indian Ocean: Red Sea (Clark & Rowe 1971).

Remarks: This species may have been misidentified by Mortensen (1940) and confused with Ophiothela venusta (Peyghan et al. 2018) . It has not been found since Mortensen’s (1940) record and it is therefore unclear if the species occurs in the study area.
