Circumglobal; Graham Island, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia (Brooks et al. 2016) to Chile (Miller and Lea 1972), including Gulf of California as far northward as Loreto (Shane Anderson, pers. comm. to M.L.). Epipelagic; depth: to 200 m (656 ft) (Roberts et al. 2015).
