Distribution in Iran. Alborz (Kheradmand et al. 2002, 2005), Ardabil (Modarres Awal 1987; Linnavuori 2007), East Azarbaijan (Modarres Awal 1997a; Nikdel et al. 2011; Sadaghian et al. 2011), Fars (Hoberlandt 1954; Linnavuori 2011), Guilan, Tehran (Linnavuori 2007), Kermanshah (Samin et al. 2011), Khorasan (Modarres Awal 1996b, 2008), Lorestan (Hoberlandt 1954 sub S. saxatilis f. montivaga), Mazandaran (Hoberlandt 1954; Wagner 1968), Iran (no locality cited) (Jakovlev 1877).

General distribution. Holomediterranean, extending to the Middle East and Middle Asia [Kashmir - doubtful in India] (Péricart 1998a).

Comments. Hoberlandt (1954) reported the Indian form montivaga from Iran.
