Diagnosis. Cercal plate on distal margin with 3 processes (2 submedian, 1 median), the median one apparently not arising from any subcercal structure. Surstylus never apically bifurcate, though sometimes with a tooth on inner margin medially

Species included in this group from China are B. betarum (Lintner, 1883), B. fugax (Meigen, 1826), B. hucketti (Ringdahl, 1935), and B. profuga (Stein, 1916) .
