acutispinosus group overview

This group is monotypic, with the nominal Temnothorax acutispinosus sp. nov. being the only member. It is morphologically similar to the members of the acuminatus group, with which it overlaps geographically (Fig. 93D), but differs from them by the larger subpetiolar tooth and dorsally directed propodeal spines. However, T. acutispinosus sp. nov. is apparently more closely related to the members of the rugosus and annexus groups (Prebus, in prep.).
