Diasclera Reitter, 1913

Diasclera Reitter, 1913: 663 .

Type species: Diasclera viridescens Reitter, 1913, by monotypy. Nacerdasclera Munster, 1921: 8 [synonymized by Švihla (1986)]. Type species: Oedemera sibirica Gebler, 1830, by monotypy. Eumecomera Arnett, 1951: 297, syn. nov.

Type species: Asclera obscura LeConte, 1854, original designation.

Comments. After the examination of Eumecomera obscura (LeConte, 1854), the type species of genus Eumecomera Arnett, 1951, as well as two other species occurring in the Nearctic Region, no differences between this genus and the genus Diasclera Reitter, 1913 from the Palaearctic Region were observed, so a new subjective synonym is proposed here. A diagnosis of Diasclera was given by Švihla (1986) and, following the inclusion of the Nearctic species, no essential characteristics need to be changed, except for the shape of parameres: in fact, the apical teeth can be absent. The genus Diasclera is distributed discontinuously in the Holarctic Region (see below the list of species), with a distribution that parallels that of Nacerdes, subgenus Xanthochroa Schmidt, 1846 . The Nearctic species of Diasclera were revised by Arnett (1951), and the Palaearctic ones were reviewed and discussed by Švihla (1986, 1999).
