Remarks. This species could constitute a complex of species (San Martín et al. 2009).The species was previously recorded in the Canary Islands as Pionosyllis weissmanni (Núñez & San Martín 1996; Núñez et al. 2005).
Habitat. Hard and sandy substrates, from the intertidal zone to depths of more than 200 m. In the samples studied the maximum depth was 270 m.
Distribution. Amphi-Atlantic species, from the British Isles to Cape Verde, Gulf of Mexico, Cuba.Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea (San Martín et al. 2009).
