DISTRIBUTION: Coastal Morocco north of Middle Atlas Mtns.

COMMENT: Corbet, 1978:122, included hesperinus in pyramidum, and Schlitter, 1976, Unpubl. Ph.D. Dissertation, Univ. Maryland, 558 pp., included it in riggenbachi; but see Lay, 1975, Fieldiana Zool., 65:95- 98, and Benazzou and Genest-Villard, 1980, Mammalia, 44:410, who considered hesperinus a distinct species.
