Description of Novosphingobium fluoreni HMF 6028

Cells are Gram-staining-negative, flagellated, non-pigmented, and rod or oval shaped. Colonies are circular, convex, entire, and yellow-colored after 3 days of incubation on R2 A at 25° C. Positive for cytochrome oxidase, but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis, gelatinase, and β -galactosidase in the API 20NE test. Trisodium citrate is utilized but D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetylglucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized. Strain HMF6028 (= NIBRBAC000498448) was isolated from seawater, Boseong, Jeollanam, Korea.
