Type locality. Igarapé da Bolívia, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.

Bionomics. Larvae of Sa. tridentatus were collected in tree holes (Cerqueira 1961; Tubaki et al. 2010). In the present study, immature stages were collected in bamboo internodes and females in human landing catch in forest at ground level (Coleção de Culcidae 2023).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Amapá *, Pará, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo (Camargo-Neves et al. 2005; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018; Gomes et al. 2010; Moreno et al. 2011; Mascheretti et al. 2013; Tubaki et al. 2010; Chaves et al. 2014; Mucci et al. 2015; Cunha et al. 2019; Silva et al. 2019).
