Type locality. Boracéia Field Station, Salesópolis, São Paulo, Brazil.

Bionomics. Immature stages of this species develop in bamboo internodes (Prado 1935; Heinemann & Belkin 1979) where they were found associated with Cx. ( Car .) iridescens, Sa. (Pey.) aurescens, Shannoniana fluviatilis (Theobald, 1903), a species of Shannoniana, Tr. pallidiventer, a species of Toxorhynchites (Lynchiella) and a species of Wyeomyia (Wyeomyia) (Harbach 1994) . In the present study, one female was collected biting a human at ground level in forest in the daytime (Coleção de Culicidae 2023).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais *, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo (Cardoso et al. 2005; Anjos & Navarro-Silva 2008; Müller et al. 2008; Tissot & Navarro-Silva 2008; Abreu et al. 2019; Stanzani et al. 2023).

*New record. State of Minas Gerais, Belmiro Braga, Fazenda Santa Mafalda (22º 00′ 57.8″ S 43º 22′ 2.9″ W), coll. Neves M.S.A.S., Silva-do-Nascimento, T.F., Motta, M.A., 31/I/2018, from progeny brood, 1♀ (voucher CCULI 5207) .

Occurrence in other countries. Colombia (Wilkerson et al. 2021).
