Type locality. Racó, Tucumán, Argentina.

Bionomics. Females of Sa. petrocchiae have been captured biting humans in the forest canopy in Bolivia (Roberts et al. 1984).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. State of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Santa Catarina (Lane 1953; Abreu et al. 2019; Cunha et al. 2019; Stanzani et al. 2023).

Occurrence in other countries. Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay (Wilkerson et al. 2021).
